Striving for fulfillment, life needs awareness to make choices and survive —how else could it be. Only the essential singularity of this sets beings apart. Built from inherited codes, awareness is bootstrapped. Using prior experience to assess current sensations it converts whatever it can recognize into some measure of significance. From every biology a meta-biology, a psychology of some sort then emerges —all psychological expressions must have a biological correlate, and all biological expressions must have some psychological correlate.
